C++ Software Engineer

Who are we?:

SLAMcore is a London-based startup founded by visual SLAM algorithm pioneers and specialists. We are developing breakthrough solutions for the next generation of spatially aware devices by harnessing sensor fusion and the latest advancements in cameras and processors. Our target sectors include commercial drones and wheeled robots.

Our vision for the role:

With significant funding secured from investors around the world, we are looking for extraordinary individuals to join our team. We are growing our software development team to accelerate the delivery of our core technology. Our solutions must process significant image data along with additional sensor information, on modern embedded and mobile processors. Real-time performance is critical so you will be skilled in writing efficient software. You will work closely with the Research, Development and Product teams to push forwards the fundamental structure, design and performance of SLAMcore's technology, delivering state-of-the-art solutions for a wide variety of real-world applications. This is a phenomenal opportunity to join us at an early stage and help shape both our core technology and the business as it grows.

How would you help?:

  • You would develop high-performance software in the area of embedded computer vision and robotics
  • Implement new, sophisticated computer vision algorithms on computationally limited platforms
  • Maintain and optimise the performance of the existing codebase, porting to the new computational platform
  • Support our Product and R&D teams

The strings to your bow:

  • You will have a love for exceptional C++ programming and software development
  • Examples of experience working with a sophisticated codebase and performing software optimisation
  • You will believe that very high code quality, performance, simplicity and maintainability is essential
  • Experience in writing production-level code
  • Experience with Linux is a plus
  • A proud problem solver who is able to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable and excited about working in a dynamic, agile, startup environment
  • Be willing to learn and gain experience in embedded real-time image processing, computer vision, machine learning, computer graphics or robotics applications, or you might already have experience in these areas!
  • Experience with open-source libraries e.g. OpenCV, Eigen, Ceres is a plus
