Senior SLAM Research Engineer

Who are we?

SLAMcore is a London-based startup founded by visual SLAM algorithm pioneers and specialists. With significant VC funding from top investors around the world, we are developing breakthrough Spatial AI solutions for next generation robots and drones by harnessing computer vision, sensor fusion and machine learning. Our aim is to greatly reduce the time and cost for companies to deploy advanced robotic solutions whilst delivering performance they could never achieve on their own.

Our vision for this role:

We are looking for a world class individual to join our team as a Senior SLAM Research Engineer. SLAM has begun to emerge from the research laboratory into real products, but we are only at the beginning of a journey as this technology evolves into a general Spatial AI capability for intelligent devices which can understand and interact with their geometric and semantic surroundings. SLAMcore intends to be at the centre of this exciting movement, developing and delivering the best applied Spatial AI solutions available to customers in robotics, drones and smart devices around the world. This is a chance to join an exciting and rapidly growing technology company in a key role.

You will be working at the heart of our research team alongside world experts in SLAM, computer vision and machine learning. You will be innovating in algorithms and pushing forward our state of the art codebase to develop advanced functionality in applied Spatial AI. There will be opportunities to publish your research and to attend scientific conferences to represent SLAMcore and further develop our strong links with the academic community.

How would you help?

  • You will design and develop state of the art SLAM algorithms for high performance localisation, mapping and scene understanding
  • Develop high quality Spatial AI systems that enable new functionality in real-world scenarios
  • Be a core member of our research team alongside SLAM experts and pioneers
  • Work closely with our engineering team to deploy your innovations into solutions for customers across multiple applications in robotics and smart devices

The capabilities we are looking for: 

  • A relevant Ph.D. in computer vision or robotics
  • Strong background in advanced geometric computer vision or SLAM
  • Strong passion for and understanding of optimisation, numerical linear algebra, probabilistic estimation, sensor fusion
  • Related industrial experience in deploying/working on SLAM for end applications
  • Proficiency in C++ programming

Bonus points if you have: 

  • Experience with machine learning techniques for geometric and semantic estimation
  • GPU programming skills e.g. CUDA, OpenCL, Vulkan, Metal
  • Experience with embedded software development
