Senior Robotics Business Development Manager

High performance robotic solutions are being delivered at an ever decreasing cost and we are genuinely reaching a tipping point. From stock-checking and infrastructure inspection to moving material around offices, hospitals or construction sites; the business case for using a robot is starting to make sense and companies developing new commercial applications are emerging every day. As this market starts to form, there is a tendency for companies to avoid vision-based localisation and mapping in favour of more expensive but easier to deploy laser-based solutions.  Even though vision has the potential to provide a much richer amount of spatial information, the complexities of building a reliable, affordable vision-based system has been out of reach for most companies; until now.

Who are we?

SLAMcore is a London-based startup founded by visual SLAM algorithm pioneers and specialists. With significant VC funding from top investors around the world, we are developing breakthrough Spatial AI solutions for next generation robots and drones by harnessing computer vision, sensor fusion and machine learning. Our aim is to greatly reduce the time and cost for companies to deploy advanced robotic solutions whilst delivering performance they could never achieve on their own. 

Our vision for this role:

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the leadership team, you will be responsible for leading our Business Development efforts.  You will build strong relationships with our potential customers and convert a small number into high value, commercial opportunities.  You will have the commercial experience to close deals along with the technical background to truly understand our customers’ pain points.

How will you help?

  • Shape the Business Engagement strategy ensuring it is aligned with the technical and product roadmap
  • Prioritise Marketing Qualified Leads and develop meaningful commercial relationships with the most promising
  • Secure a small number of high value, B2B commercial contracts that are aligned with our overarching strategy
  • Develop and prepare material for potential and existing customers
  • Travel to potential customers offices around the world

The capabilities we are looking for:

  • Relevant work experience in a technical, engineering company
  • The ability to understand SLAMcore’s technology in sufficient detail as to be able to communicate confidently with technical customers
  • The ability to identify and close high value technical contracts
  • Expertise in software license negotiation to hardware companies 
  • Proactive and able to work independently 
  • Excellent communication skills

Bonus points if you have:

  • A Computer Science or Engineering qualification
  • Experience with localisation and mapping technologies with an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of existing solutions
  • Experience with commercial robotics or drone systems
