Senior SLAM Product Manager

SLAM has begun to emerge from the research laboratory into real products, but we are only at the beginning of a journey. As this technology evolves into a general Spatial AI capability for intelligent devices, it will enable them to understand and interact with their geometric and semantic surroundings. SLAMcore intends to be at the centre of this exciting movement, developing and delivering the best applied Spatial AI solutions available to customers in robotics, drones and smart devices around the world.

Who are we?

SLAMcore is a London-based startup founded by visual SLAM algorithm pioneers and specialists. With significant VC funding from top investors around the world, we are developing breakthrough Spatial AI solutions for next generation robots and drones by harnessing computer vision, sensor fusion and machine learning. Our aim is to greatly reduce the time and cost for companies to deploy advanced robotic solutions whilst delivering performance they could never achieve on their own. 

Our vision for this role:

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the leadership team, you will be responsible for defining and maintaining the product strategy and corresponding roadmap. You will build on existing market landscape work to evaluate and prioritise target verticals. You will ensure our product roadmap stays relevant by building strong relationships with strategic customers. You will have a strong technical background with the ability to communicate effectively with the research and engineering functions inside both SLAMcore and our customers. You will have focussed your career on technical strategy design and delivery, and use your expertise to help deploy real world solutions.

How will you help?

  • Responsible for setting the product vision and strategy leading to ownership of the product roadmap
  • Drive alignment between key stakeholders (engineering, marketing and sales)
  • Understand the size and shape of the existing and future market landscape
  • Identify common customer pain points and needs, in order to develop new concepts and prioritize growth opportunities, ensuring feedback is integrated into the development process
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with a small number of key strategic customers/partners 

The capabilities we are looking for:

  • Hands-on robotics and SLAM experience
  • Relevant industrial experience in deploying/working on SLAM/robotics end applications
  • The ability to engage in technical discussions with engineering team to work out trade-offs in hardware / software design
  • Experience developing Product Roadmaps for localisation and mapping technologies
  • Experience as part of, or working closely with, the senior leadership team of a technical company
  • Comfortable engaging with external customers
  • Willing to travel to customer offices around the world

Bonus points if you have:

  • A Ph.D. in computer vision or robotics
  • Management qualifications such as an MBA
  • Experience with commercial robotics or drone systems
  • Worked in a high growth deep-tech startup with <20 employees
